Shift optimization rule fields

The fields on the Shift Optimization page allow you to create and specify the parameters for the rule.

Setting

Description

Rule name

Descriptive name of the rule.

Request types

Identifies the request types to which the rule applies.

Values include: 

  • Shift Request & Change

  • Shift Bidding

  • Shift Swap

  • Time Off / Flex Time

Available Time Off Types

If you selected Time Off/Flex Time for a request type, indicates the time-off types that are affected by the rule.

Optimization

Specifies the following for the rule:

  • Duration: Range of the length of the shift Work period in WFM that has a definite length. assignment to which the rule applies. For example, if you want the rule to apply to all shifts with a duration of 8 or 9 hours, enter 8:00-9:00 in this field

  • Use shift: Shift template for which you want the shift events in the template to be applied to the relevant shift assignment.

When selecting a shift in the Use shift field, shifts that contain custom gaps or absolute shift events do not appear in the list.

Shift event optimization

Indicates the type of shift events (working or non-working) that the system optimizes for the shift assignment:

Apply to sub-org

The following options are available:

  • Apply to this org only: Rule applies only to the selected organization, and not to its suborganizations.

  • Apply to sub orgs (no overrides): Rule applies to the organization and its suborganizations. Users associated with the suborganizations cannot update the rule.

  • Apply to sub orgs (allow overrides): Rule applies to the organization and its suborganizations. Users associated with the suborganizations can change whether the rule applies to their organization, but they cannot update it.
